Okay, so Super Back to the Future Part II on SNES is basically a love letter to the movie—if that love letter was scribbled in crayon by someone who only half-remembered the plot. You hop between 1955, 1985, and 2015 as Marty, jumping over trash cans in Hill Valley or dodging hoverboard bullies in the future. The pixel art’s actually pretty charming, especially Doc’s wild hair animations.
Gameplay’s your standard ’90s platformer—a little stiff, a little janky, but weirdly endearing. The music nails that SNES synth vibe, though good luck getting the BTTF theme out of your head after playing. Pro tip: the skateboard sections feel like they’re actively fighting you, but once you get the timing down, it’s weirdly satisfying. Just don’t expect it to hold up like, say, Super Mario World.
Honestly? It’s a nostalgia trip—more fun if you’re a diehard fan of the movies. You’ll grin at little details like the almanac side-quest or Biff’s ridiculous sprite. But if you’re just here for tight platforming, maybe temper those expectations. Still, firing up the DeLorean never gets old.
