About Super B.c. Kid (europe)
I first played Super B.C. Kid on the Super Nintendo in 1994, a game developed by Hudson Soft. It was part of that era on the SNES where platformers were everywhere, and this one was their attempt to bring their caveman hero to the 16-bit console. It felt like a natural step up from the TurboGrafx-16 titles, though it had its own particular flavor.
You control Bonk, a small caveman with a disproportionately large head. Your main goal is to rescue your kidnapped friend from the evil King Drool. The gameplay is built on classic platforming; you move screen by screen, headbutting enemies and bouncing off their heads to reach higher platforms. You collect meat to power up, which changes Bonk's abilities, letting you smash through certain blocks or defeat tougher foes. The pacing is brisk, and some later stages get quite difficult, demanding precise jumps and quick reactions. Playing it feels like a cheerful, slightly chaotic scramble through a prehistoric cartoon.
