Space Megaforce (or Super Aleste, depending on where you're from) is one of those classic SNES shooters where you're blasting through waves of enemies in a vertical-scrolling frenzy. Right off the bat, you pick from eight weapons—some feel like rapid-fire pea shooters, others unleash absolute chaos—and then it's just non-stop action from there.
The screen's always packed with enemy ships, bullets, and explosions, but somehow it never feels unfair. You can power up your weapon mid-game if you grab the right pickups, and figuring out which one works best against certain bosses is half the fun. The soundtrack's got that old-school techno vibe too, which just adds to the intensity.
It's not the deepest shmup out there, but it nails that "one more try" feeling when you barely scrape through a tough section. Definitely a solid pick if you're into retro bullet hell.
