Super 4WD - The Baja is one of those SNES racers that doesn’t get talked about enough. It’s got this rough, off-road vibe where you’re tearing through dirt tracks, mud flying everywhere, and the physics actually feel weighty—like you’re wrestling with the wheel a bit. The Japanese version’s got a few extra touches, like slightly sharper sprites and an extra track or two.

First time I played, I just floored it and immediately wiped out on a tight turn. The handling takes some getting used to—you can’t just powerslide through everything like in Mario Kart. And the damage system? Your truck actually starts smoking if you bash it up too much. Not exactly realistic, but it adds this fun tension when you’re barely holding it together in the final lap.

Definitely a hidden gem if you’re into old-school arcade racers with a bit of grit.
