About Strike Gunner S.t.g (japan)
Strike Gunner S.T.G came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, published by Athena. It was part of that early wave of SNES shooters, arriving when developers were still figuring out how to use the new hardware. You got a lot of games trying to push the limits of the Mode 7 chip, but this one stuck to a more traditional vertical format.
You pilot a lone attack craft through eight stages, moving upward and blasting everything in sight. Your main goal is simply to survive the enemy onslaught and defeat the boss waiting at the end of each level. The game's signature mechanic is the two-player co-op mode, allowing a friend to join in. Another key feature is the option to rotate your two gunpods, letting you aim your fire in different directions instead of just forward. The pacing is relentless; enemies and bullets fill the screen quickly, making for a tough challenge. Playing it feels like a constant, frantic scramble for survival.
