About Stone Protectors (japan) (proto)
Stone Protectors for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System came out in 1994, developed by Eurocom. It was part of that wave of games based on action figure lines, and it fit right in with the platform's library of side-scrolling brawlers.
You control one of the Stone Protectors, moving screen by screen through levels filled with enemies. Your main goal is to fight through these stages, using a basic attack combo and a special screen-clearing move that costs magic. You can also find and use different projectile weapons, like a bow, for a bit of ranged combat. The game can feel repetitive after a while, and the difficulty is fairly standard for the genre, requiring you to manage crowds of foes. It feels like a straightforward, no-frills arcade experience from that era.
