Stargate on SNES is one of those weird licensed games that kinda does its own thing—it's got the movie's name and basic premise, but plays like a mix of Contra and a sci-fi platformer. You're running through Egyptian-themed levels blasting alien bugs and soldiers, which feels odd at first until you realize the devs just went all-in on the action.
The controls are stiff by today's standards, but once you get used to the jump arcs and weapon switching, there's some dumb fun in mowing down waves of enemies. The pixel art's actually pretty decent for an early SNES title—those sandworm sprites still creep me out a little. Just don't expect deep lore or anything; it's basically "shoot first, ask questions never."
If you're into janky 90s movie tie-ins, this one's a weird little time capsule.
