Stargate on SNES is one of those weird little movie tie-ins that somehow works. It's got that classic run-and-gun vibe where you're blasting through alien worlds, but with a twist—you actually hop between planets through these ancient gates. The pixel art holds up surprisingly well, especially the weird snake-like enemies that crawl out of sand pits.
Controls feel a bit stiff at first (this is a 16-bit shooter, after all), but once you get the rhythm down, chaining jumps and shots becomes satisfying. Just don't expect a deep story—it's mostly an excuse to shoot things with a sci-fi skin. Still, there's something charming about how janky the gate transitions look when you warp between levels.
If you dig retro shooters with a dash of '90s movie cheese, this one's a fun time-waster.
