Okay, so Star Trek: The Next Generation - Future's Past on SNES is basically the same game as the Genesis version, Echoes from the Past—except someone cranked the difficulty to "masochist mode" for no reason. Like, same story, same crew, same missions, but suddenly every enemy ship hits like a truck and your shields might as well be made of tissue paper.
I remember booting it up, thinking "Hey, I love TNG, this’ll be fun," and then getting absolutely wrecked by the first Romulan patrol. The Genesis version at least lets you breathe between fights—here, it feels like the game’s actively mocking you. Even phaser calibration is weirdly punishing.
If you’re a glutton for punishment or just really, really love Picard’s voice clips, maybe give it a shot. Otherwise, stick to the Genesis one—your sanity will thank you.
