Man, Star Fox Competition - Weekend Edition takes me back. That SNES polygonal space combat still holds up—somehow those chunky graphics make blasting through asteroid fields feel even more intense. You start off with the classic Corneria run, weaving between those towering skyscrapers while Andross’s goons swarm you, and suddenly you remember why this game ruled. The Weekend Edition throws in some brutal time trials—I swear the final sector’s laser maze was designed by someone who hates happiness.
What’s cool is how it forces you to actually fly instead of just holding down fire. Barrel rolls to deflect shots, U-turns to shake tails, and that one secret shortcut in Sector Z that still works (you know the one). Fox’s voice clips crackle through like he’s yelling over an intercom, and yeah, you’ll hear “DO A BARREL ROLL” approximately 8,000 times. Nostalgia’s half the fun, but those leaderboard chases? Pure panic fuel.
Just don’t let your little cousin pick the Landmaster tank. Trust me.
