About Star Fox Competition - Weekend Edition
Star Fox Competition: Weekend Edition came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993, developed and published by Nintendo. It was a special version of the original Star Fox, released in limited quantities through a Nintendo Power promotion. This was during a time when the SNES was pushing its hardware with the Super FX chip, allowing for early 3D polygonal graphics that felt new and ambitious.
You control Fox McCloud's Arwing fighter, navigating through a series of on-rails corridor levels. Your main objective is to destroy as many enemies and score as many points as possible within a strict time limit. Signature mechanics include using the Arwing's laser to shoot down enemy ships and the ability to perform a barrel roll, which deflects incoming fire.
