About Spider-man And The X-men In Arcades Revenge
Spider-Man and the X-Men in Arcade's Revenge came out for the Super Nintendo in 1992, developed by Software Creations. It was part of that wave of early 90s comic book games, where you could finally control several Marvel heroes on a home console. The game arrived when the SNES library was expanding, offering more complex action titles alongside its simpler predecessors.
You take control of five different characters: Spider-Man, Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, and Gambit. Your main goal is to rescue the other heroes after they are captured by the villain Arcade. The gameplay shifts between them, each with unique abilities; Spider-Man swings across gaps, Wolverine slashes with his claws, Cyclops uses his optic blasts to hit switches. You move screen by screen through themed stages, fighting enemies and navigating environmental hazards. The pacing is often unforgiving, with instant death traps and demanding platforming sections. Playing it feels like a constant test of your reflexes and patience.
