Speed Racer came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, published by Accolade. It was one of many licensed games from that period, an attempt to bring the animated series to the 16-bit console. You take on the role of Speed Racer himself, piloting the Mach 5 through a series of races.

You control the car from an isometric perspective, navigating twisting tracks filled with sharp turns and rival drivers. The main objective is straightforward: win each cup by finishing first in a set of races. The game's signature mechanics involve using the Mach 5's special functions, like the jacks that lift the car over obstacles and the defensive saws that can destroy other vehicles. You also collect power-ups scattered on the track to repair damage or gain a temporary speed boost. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with tight corners and aggressive opponents making it easy to spin out.
