Space Ace came to the Super Nintendo in 1994, a port of the laser disc arcade game by Cinematronics. It was a time when developers were trying to bring cinematic experiences home, and this was one of the attempts. You control the heroic space adventurer Ace, who has been aged into a teenager by the villainous Commander Borf. Your main goal is straightforward: rescue your partner Kimberly and stop Borf from using the Infanto Ray on Earth.

Gameplay is a sequence of animated scenes where you must press the correct direction or button at the right moment. You dodge energy blasts, leap over gaps, and return fire with your laser pistol. Sometimes you get a choice between paths, leading to different animated sequences. The action is relentless, and the timing for these quick time events is strict, making the game quite difficult. It feels like you are guiding an interactive cartoon, where a single missed input can send you back to the start of a scene.
