Ever heard of Astral Bout 2? It’s this weird, kinda obscure SNES fighting game from Japan that throws a bunch of martial arts styles into one chaotic roster. You’ve got boxers, karate guys, even some dude who fights with a staff—it’s like someone raided a dojo and made them all brawl.
The controls are stiff in that classic early-90s way, but there’s something oddly charming about how janky some of the moves feel. I remember picking the sumo wrestler first because, well, sumo, and his slap attack had this ridiculous wind-up animation. Half the fun is just seeing how bizarre some of the matchups get.
Not gonna lie, the AI cheats like crazy on higher difficulties, but if you’re into retro fighters with personality (and questionable balance), it’s a fun time for a few rounds. Just don’t expect Street Fighter-level polish.
