Okay, so Soccer Kid on SNES is this weird little platformer where, yeah, you’re a kid with a soccer ball—but it’s not really about soccer. You’re mostly kicking that ball at enemies, bouncing it off walls to hit switches, and occasionally pulling off ridiculous trick shots just to reach a ledge. The controls take a second to click (timing those volleys feels oddly satisfying once you get it), but the levels get surprisingly creative with how they force you to use the ball.
It’s got that early ‘90s vibe—bright colors, chiptune music that’s way catchier than it needs to be, and some janky hit detection that’ll make you groan. Not gonna lie, a few jumps feel unfair until you memorize the layouts, but there’s something weirdly charming about how it mashes up sports and platforming without taking itself seriously. If you’re into obscure retro stuff, this one’s a fun oddity.
