Ever had one of those weird dreams where everything’s just slightly off? That’s basically Bart’s Nightmare in a nutshell. You start off watching Bart doze off over his homework (relatable), and then boom—you’re dropped into this fever dream of mini-games. One second you’re dodging mutant versions of Lisa’s sax solos, the next you’re shrinking down to fight off rogue gumballs in Bart’s bloodstream. It’s chaotic, kinda janky, but weirdly charming.
The controls take a second to get used to—especially in the Itchy & Scratchy segment where you’re swinging a giant mallet—but once it clicks, there’s something oddly satisfying about piecing together Bart’s lost homework pages while the world around him goes nuts. The music’s got that classic Simpsons vibe too, which helps when you’re on your fifth attempt at the Bartman flying section. Not gonna lie, some parts feel borderline unfair, but that’s nightmares for you.
If you’re into weird, early-’90s platforming with a heavy dose of nostalgia, this one’s a trip. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand.
