Shodai Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992, developed by Technos Japan. You control Kunio, a high school delinquent, as he fights his way through the city streets. Your main goal is to rescue your girlfriend, which means taking on rival gangs one neighborhood at a time. The game progresses screen by screen; you clear an area of enemies before you can move forward. Signature mechanics include picking up weapons from the environment, like bats and rocks, and using a special desperation attack when your health is low. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with enemies that swarm you from all sides.
