Shin Megami Tensei on SNES is one of those RPGs that doesn’t hold your hand—you start in modern-day Tokyo, and within minutes, demons are crawling out of the woodwork. The atmosphere is thick with this eerie, almost oppressive vibe, and the choices you make actually matter. Like, do you side with the angels, demons, or just carve your own path? No right answers here.

The demon fusion system is where things get wild. You recruit monsters to fight for you (some are weirdly polite about it), then mash them together to create even stronger ones. First time I tried it, I ended up with some Frankenstein abomination that barely listened to me—lesson learned. The translation patch fixes the old janky text, so you’re not guessing what half the dialogue means anymore.

It’s tough, borderline cruel at times, but that’s part of the charm. If you’re into RPGs with bite and don’t mind a little existential dread between battles, this one’s a trip.
