About Shanghai Ii - Dragon's Eye
Shanghai II: Dragon's Eye came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992, published by Activision. It was part of that wave of puzzle games on the SNES that offered a quieter, more thoughtful alternative to the platformers and action titles dominating the system. This was a game you'd pop in when you wanted to slow down and concentrate.
You control a cursor to remove matching tiles from a series of intricate layouts. The main objective is to clear each board completely by matching pairs of identical, unblocked tiles. Its signature mechanics involve navigating these multi-layered tile arrangements, often shaped like dragons or other complex patterns, where you must carefully plan your moves because removing one pair can lock away others. The game is methodical and can become quite challenging as the patterns grow more dense and the number of identical tiles increases. It feels like patiently untangling a very beautiful, very stubborn knot.
