About Shanghai Ii - Dragon's Eye (europe)
Shanghai II: Dragon's Eye came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993, published by Activision. It was part of that wave of puzzle games that found a comfortable home on the SNES, offering a different kind of challenge next to all the platformers and RPGs.
You control a cursor to clear the board by matching identical Mahjong tiles. The main objective is to remove every tile from the screen, which is arranged in a complex, multi-layered pattern. The core mechanics involve scanning the board for pairs of free tiles, meaning they are not blocked on their left or right side. You also need to plan ahead, as removing one pair can unlock or trap others, and special Dragon tiles must be matched last. The game starts calmly but becomes quite difficult as the layouts get more intricate and your options narrow. It feels like a quiet, methodical test of your observation and foresight.
