Septentrion is one of those weird, tense SNES games that feels like it shouldn’t exist—in a good way. You wake up on this massive, sinking cruise ship called the Lady Crithania, and the whole thing’s flooding fast. No weapons, no tutorials, just you scrambling through dark hallways while the water rises. It’s got that early survival-horror vibe where every door you open could mean drowning or finding the one key you desperately need.
Human Entertainment nailed the atmosphere—creaky ship noises, flickering lights, and this constant dread that you’re running out of time. The puzzles aren’t super obvious either, so you’ll be backtracking, checking rooms you missed, and probably drowning a few times before you figure things out. Feels almost like a prototype for later horror games, but with way more panic about water levels.
If you’re into obscure 90s games that punish you for not paying attention, this one’s a trip. Just don’t expect hand-holding.
