Seiken Densetsu 2 (or Secret of Mana if you played it in the West) is one of those SNES classics that still holds up. You start as this kid who pulls a sword from a stone—classic hero move, right? Except turns out it was a bad idea, and now monsters are everywhere, the world’s out of whack, and you’ve gotta fix it.
The combat’s simple but satisfying—just whack stuff in real time, charge up your attacks, and unleash magic with your party. And speaking of party, you’ll pick up two other characters along the way, which is great because soloing this would be rough. The soundtrack? Absolute bangers. Like, you’ll catch yourself humming the overworld theme days later.
It’s got that classic JRPG charm with colorful sprites and a story that starts small but gets surprisingly deep. Just don’t expect flawless pacing—some parts drag a little, and the AI companions can be… let’s say "enthusiastically dumb" in fights. Still, it’s a must-play if you’re into retro RPGs.
