Play Seifuku Densetsu - Pretty Fighter Online

I first came across Seifuku Densetsu: Pretty Fighter on the Super Nintendo in 1994, a release from Imagineer. It was one of those many action games from that era that didn't get a huge amount of attention outside of Japan. You play as a young girl named Kurisu, who finds a magical book that transports her to a fantasy world she must now save.

You guide Kurisu through a series of side-scrolling stages, fighting monsters with a simple sword attack. The main goal is to defeat the evil forces in each land, which involves navigating platforms and defeating a boss at the end of every stage. A couple of mechanics stand out: you can find different magical books that change your costume and grant you a unique special attack, like a fire spell or a wind projectile. You also collect hearts to increase your health and gems to purchase items from shops between levels. The game moves at a brisk pace, and some of the platforming sections can be quite tricky, demanding precise jumps. It feels like a straightforward, colorful adventure where finding a new power-up genuinely changes your approach to the enemies ahead.
