SeaQuest came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, published by Malibu. It was part of that wave of games trying to do something a bit different on the console, moving away from pure platforming into more strategic, vehicle based action.

You control a submarine, navigating screen by screen through side scrolling ocean depths. Your main goal is to protect the marine ecosystem from a hostile force, which involves hunting enemy subs and creatures with your torpedoes. A key mechanic is using your sonar to locate sunken shipwrecks; you then deploy a small robot to carefully navigate these wrecks, collecting items and avoiding hazards. The pacing is deliberate, as you must also constantly evade depth charges dropped from the surface. Managing your position while aiming your weapons and directing the robot creates a tense, methodical experience. It feels like you are conducting a careful, dangerous operation in a vast, silent world.
