Ever tried fishing in a river full of pixelated trout? Sanspo Fishing - Keiryuu Ou is one of those weirdly specific SNES games Japan loved—you're basically competing to catch the biggest fish in different rivers. The controls are simple (press a button to cast, wiggle the rod when you get a bite), but the real challenge is figuring out where the fish actually are. Some spots are dead zones, others are packed—took me a few tries to stop reeling in empty hooks.
It’s got that early ‘90s charm with chunky sprites and this oddly satisfying tension when a fish finally takes the bait. Not gonna lie, the menus are all in Japanese, but the icons make it playable even if you don’t read a word. Perfect for killing time between bigger games or if you just want to zone out with something low-stakes. I still haven’t topped the record for that golden carp near the waterfall.
