SM Choukyoushi Hitomi is one of those weird, obscure SNES Japan-only titles that makes you go, "Wait, what is this?" At first glance, it looks like a standard mahjong game—tiles, numbers, the usual stuff. But then you realize it's actually a mahjong-themed... dating sim? Yeah.
You play as a teacher (or maybe a coach? The translation's rough) trying to win over Hitomi, a student, by beating her at mahjong. The gameplay's straightforward if you know mahjong, but the real charm is in the bizarre mix of romance and tile-matching. The art’s surprisingly decent for an unlicensed title, with these exaggerated 90s anime expressions when you win or lose a round.
It’s definitely more of a novelty than a deep experience, but if you’re into offbeat retro Japan-only oddities, this one’s a trip. Just don’t expect it to make much sense.
