So SD The Great Battle is this weird little SNES game where you get to pick between Ultraman, Kamen Rider, or Gundam—all in super-deformed chibi style, which is kind of hilarious when you see Gundam stomping around like a tiny angry robot. It's a top-down action-platformer, but way more chaotic than you'd expect, with enemies swarming you from all sides.
At first I went with Kamen Rider because, well, he looks cool, but turns out Ultraman's beam attack clears rooms way faster when you're getting mobbed. The controls take a second to get used to—your jump feels a little floaty, and some of the platforming bits are awkward with the perspective. But there's something charming about how over-the-top it gets, especially when the screen fills with explosions and tiny pixelated henchmen.
Definitely one of those "so weird it's fun" 90s Japan-only titles. If you dig retro mashups or just want to see giant heroes shrunk down to toy size, it's worth a play.
