Okay, so SD The Great Battle - Aratanaru Chousen is one of those weird, wonderful SNES games that somehow throws Ultraman, Kamen Rider, and Gundam characters into a chunky little SD world. You start off picking your hero—I always go for the Gundam guy because, well, lasers—and then it’s just non-stop side-scrolling chaos. Enemies pop out everywhere, and the controls are just janky enough to keep you on your toes.
The sprites are tiny but packed with personality, and the levels mix platforming with some light puzzle stuff (mostly "hit the switch before the floor collapses" kind of deals). Boss fights are where it really shines though—imagine a super-deformed Ultraman wrestling a kaiju twice his size while you mash buttons like your life depends on it. It’s ridiculous in the best way.
If you’re into retro games that don’t take themselves too seriously, this one’s a blast. Just don’t expect deep strategy—it’s pure, dumb fun with a side of 90s charm.
