Sd Gundam Gaiden - Knight Gundam Monogatari - Ooinaru Isan (japan) (rev A) Game
📅 1991 ✍️ Bandai

Ever wanted to play a Gundam game where everyone’s chibi-sized and armored up like medieval knights? That’s basically SD Gundam Gaiden in a nutshell. It’s an old-school SNES RPG from ’91 that never left Japan, which is a shame because it’s got this weirdly charming mix of giant robot lore and Arthurian fantasy.
You start off picking your knight—er, Gundam—and then it’s straight into turn-based battles where these tiny mechs whack each other with swords and shields instead of beam rifles. The sprites are ridiculous in the best way, like someone took the usual Gundam drama and ran it through a Saturday morning cartoon filter. The menus are all in Japanese, but if you’ve played enough RPGs, you can kinda fumble through it.
Honestly, half the fun is just seeing how they reimagined classic Mobile Suits as fantasy heroes. Spoiler: Zaku II makes a surprisingly decent villainous foot soldier. If you’re into obscure Gundam spin-offs or weird retro RPGs, this one’s a neat little time capsule.
