Sd Gundam Gaiden - Knight Gundam Monogatari - Ooinaru Isan (japan) Game
📅 1991 ✍️ Bandai

Okay, so imagine if someone took Gundam, shrunk all the mechs down to chibi proportions, and then dropped them into a medieval fantasy RPG—that’s basically Knight Gundam Monogatari. It’s got that classic SNES-era pixel art, with these tiny armored knights (who are actually Gundams, but with swords and shields) running around towns and dungeons.
The combat’s turn-based, but with a twist—you can position your squad on a grid before fights, which actually matters because some attacks hit in lines or areas. First time I played, I just shoved everyone forward like an idiot and got wrecked by a dragon’s fire breath. Lesson learned.
Weirdly charming mix of Gundam lore and fantasy tropes—like, yes, that’s absolutely a Zaku in plate armor serving as the dungeon’s mini-boss. If you’re into obscure 90s JRPGs or just love the idea of Excalibur-wielding mobile suits, it’s a fun little time capsule.
