Rushing Beat RanâFukusei Toshi is one of those SNES beat 'em ups that doesnât get enough love. You start off picking between three fighters (I always go for the boxer, even though the wrestlerâs throws are stupidly satisfying), and then itâs straight into the grimy streets to clean up gangs with your fists. The sprites are chunky, the hits feel weighty, and the musicâs got that early â90s synth vibe that just works.
What I like is how it doesnât mess aroundâno long tutorials, just grab a buddy if youâve got one and start smashing through waves of goons. The bosses are the real highlight, though. One minute youâre dodging a dude on roller skates, the next youâre getting suplexed by a guy twice your size. Itâs chaotic in the best way.
If youâve played Final Fight or Streets of Rage, thisâll feel familiar but with its own weird charm. Just donât expect a deep storyâyouâre here to punch things, and it delivers.
