About Romancing Saga 2
Romancing SaGa 2 came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993, developed and published by Square. It was part of that wave of ambitious Japanese role playing games that really stretched what the SNES could do, building complex worlds without the CD storage other platforms were starting to use.
You control a lineage of emperors and empresses, guiding the kingdom of Avalon across generations as you battle the seven heroes, who have returned as villains. You explore the world screen by screen, delving into dungeons and fighting enemies in turn based combat where your party members can spontaneously learn new skills and spells. The game does not hold your hand; its open structure and unforgiving difficulty mean you will get lost and face sudden, punishing battles. Managing your empire's resources and watching your heirs inherit your progress creates a unique, long term connection to the world. Playing it feels like steering a nation through centuries of crisis.
