Rocky Rodent came out in 1993 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, developed by Irem. It was part of that wave of early 90s platformers that tried to stand out with a unique character and some unusual mechanics. You don't see many games starring a punk rock hamster, so it definitely had its own identity on the console.

You control Rocky, a rodent with a wild blue mohawk, on a mission to rescue a millionaire's daughter. The main objective is to fight through seven themed worlds, each a series of side scrolling levels. His signature ability is using his extendable hair as a grappling hook to swing across gaps and climb walls, which adds a vertical element to the exploration. You can also collect soda cans to temporarily transform into one of four powerful forms, like a boxer or a ninja, each with a different attack. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with precise platforming required to avoid instant death pits and enemies. Playing it feels like a frantic scramble where a single mistimed jump can send you back to the start, but pulling off a perfect hair swing to clear a huge chasm is genuinely satisfying.
