Rockman & Forte on SNES is one of those late-era Mega Man games that flew under the radar for a lot of people—which is a shame, because it’s got this weird, scrappy charm. You pick between Rockman (classic blue bomber) or Forte (Bass, but edgier), and they actually play totally different. Rockman slides and charges shots like usual, but Forte? Dude double-jumps, dashes, and feels like he’s breaking the game in the best way.
The levels are brutal in that classic Mega Man way—think disappearing blocks, insta-kill spikes, and bosses that wreck you until you memorize their patterns. But there’s something satisfying about how weighty the movement feels, especially when you’re nailing jumps just right. And the music? Absolute bangers, even by SNES standards.
It’s not perfect—some of the gimmick stages drag, and good luck beating the final boss without grinding for E-Tanks—but if you’re into retro platformers that don’t hold your hand, this one’s a hidden gem. Just don’t blame me when King’s stage makes you rage-quit.
