Rockman 7 (or Mega Man 7 if you're outside Japan) picks up right after the sixth game—Dr. Wily’s finally behind bars, but of course, he had a backup plan. Four hidden Robot Masters wake up after six months of radio silence and wreck the city where Wily’s being held. Classic Wily move.
You start off rolling into the chaos with Roll and Auto, only to find the place already trashed. Before you can even process it, Bass and his robo-wolf Treble show up, acting all mysterious. They claim they’re after Wily too, but something feels off. The game throws you straight into the usual routine—eight Robot Masters to hunt down, each with their own gimmicky stage. Burst Man’s explosions are annoying, Freeze Man’s ice physics will trip you up, and Shade Man’s stage has that creepy gothic vibe with bats everywhere.
Halfway through, Bass "conveniently" gets wrecked, and you send him to Dr. Light for repairs—big mistake. Turns out he was playing you the whole time, stealing upgrades and teaming up with Wily. The final fortress is brutal, especially Bass & Treble’s fusion form, but the real kicker is the ending. Wily pulls the "you can’t kill me, you’re just a robot" card, and Mega Man actually hesitates. For once, it feels like the story has some weight to it.
It’s classic Mega Man with a few twists—bigger sprites, a health bar that actually shows numbers, and Bass being a little gremlin the whole time. The soundtrack’s solid too, especially Shade Man’s theme.
