Ever wanted to strap on a jetpack and just go? The Rocketeer on SNES nails that feeling—mostly. It’s a side-scroller where you zip around as Cliff Secord, dodging bullets and occasionally blasting bad guys with a clunky pistol (the jetpack’s the real star here).
Controls take a second to get used to—you’ll fumble a few landings before figuring out the momentum—but once you do, swooping over rooftops and dive-bombing enemies feels surprisingly good for a 16-bit game. The levels are pretty straightforward, though some of the platforming bits can be weirdly precise. And yeah, the movie tie-in shows in the cutscenes, complete with that cheesy-but-charming 90s vibe.
It’s not the deepest game, but if you’re into retro flight mechanics or just love the film, it’s a solid weekend playthrough.
