About Rocketeer, The (japan)
The Rocketeer for the Super Nintendo came out in 1992, developed by IGS. It was one of many games from that period trying to capture the feel of a movie, in this case the 1991 film about a pilot with a jet pack.
You control Cliff Secord, the Rocketeer, navigating side scrolling levels from a third person perspective. Your main goal is to stop the Nazis from getting your rocket pack, moving through areas like a movie backlot and a zeppelin. The signature mechanic is the jet pack itself; you can fly for short bursts, which you need for reaching high platforms and dodging enemies. You also have a limited supply of bullets for your pistol to shoot foes. The game is known for being quite difficult, with precise platforming required and enemies that respawn quickly. Playing it feels like a constant scramble to manage your fuel and firepower while under pressure.
