Ever wanted to strap on a jetpack and just go? The Rocketeer on SNES nails that feeling—mostly. You’re basically this 1930s stunt pilot who stumbles into a rocket pack, and suddenly you’re zipping through levels, dodging bullets, and occasionally blasting bad guys with a pistol (because why not?).
The controls take a second to get used to—you’ll overshoot platforms at first, but once you get the hang of the jetpack’s floaty physics, weaving between airships and enemy fire feels pretty satisfying. Some levels force you to land and run around like a normal person, which honestly feels weird after all that flying. The pixel art’s got that classic SNES charm, though, especially the explosions.
It’s not the deepest game out there, but if you’re into short bursts of arcade-y action with a retro movie tie-in vibe, it’s a solid way to kill an afternoon. Just don’t expect the jetpack to make everything easy.
