About Robotrek
Robotrek came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Quintet and published by Enix. It was part of that wave of mid-90s SNES RPGs that experimented with different settings beyond the usual fantasy. This one puts you in a world of inventors and robotics, which felt like a fresh take at the time.
You control a young inventor whose main goal is to stop a corporate syndicate from taking over the planet. The core of the game is building and programming your own team of robots. You gather parts, combine them in your workshop to create new bots, and then assign them programs that dictate their actions in turn-based battles. Exploration happens screen by screen across towns and dungeons, with puzzles to solve and items to find. The pace is methodical, focused more on tinkering and strategy than on fast action. It feels like solving a complex, personal engineering project where your creations do the fighting for you.
