About Robocop 3
RoboCop 3 came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992, published by Ocean Software. It arrived during a time when movie tie-in games were common, and this one attempted to translate the film's urban future into a side-scrolling action game. You step into the heavy metal boots of RoboCop, navigating a crime-ridden Detroit.
You control RoboCop through several city stages, moving screen by screen to clear out criminals and complete mission objectives. Your main goal is to stop the evil corporation OCP from demolishing the city. You primarily use your standard Auto-9 pistol to shoot enemies; you can also pick up temporary weapon upgrades like a flamethrower or a grenade launcher found in certain stages. The game mixes straightforward shooting with occasional driving sections where you operate RoboCop's police cruiser. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty can be unforgiving due to limited continues and aggressive enemy placement. Playing it feels like a deliberate, sometimes punishing, trek through a chaotic cityscape.
