Man, Rise of the Robots was supposed to be this huge deal back in the day—all that hype about AI opponents learning your moves and adapting mid-fight. Spoiler: they didn’t. What you actually get is a clunky SNES fighter where you play as this ECO35-2 cyborg punching through waves of robots with stiff animations and awkward controls.
The art looks cool at first (those pre-rendered sprites were fancy for the time), but once you start playing, you realize how slow and repetitive it gets. The Supervisor boss at the end? Kind of a letdown after all that buildup. Still, there’s a weird charm to its janky, overpromised nostalgia. Just don’t expect Street Fighter.
