Ranma 1-2 on SNES is basically a love letter to fans of the anime—it’s a straightforward 1v1 fighter where you pick your favorite character from the series and throw down. The roster’s got all the usual suspects, from Ranma (both versions, obviously) to Ryoga swinging that ridiculous umbrella around.
It’s not the deepest fighter out there—combos are simple, and the AI isn’t exactly brutal—but the charm’s in the little details. Some moves are straight out of the show, like Shampoo’s ridiculous acrobatics or Mousse pulling weapons out of nowhere. The pixel art’s bright and colorful, though the animations can feel a bit stiff if you’re used to later SNES fighters.
If you grew up with Ranma, it’s a nostalgia trip. If not, it’s still a decent time, just don’t expect Street Fighter levels of depth. Fun for a few rounds with a friend who gets the references.
