About Ranma 1-2 - Ougi Jaanken (japan)
Ranma 1/2: Ougi Jaanken came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993, developed by Atelier Double and published by NCS. It was part of a wave of games based on popular anime series that tried to capture the show's humor and characters in a playable format.
You control Ranma Saotome, moving him through a series of single-screen stages. The main goal is to clear each stage by defeating all the enemy characters, who are often other characters from the series like Ryoga or Kuno. Your primary attack is the Jaanken move, which cycles between rock, paper, and scissors; you must choose the correct hand shape to defeat the specific enemy you are facing. The game plays out like a falling block puzzle, where you drop your chosen hand onto the playfield to eliminate the opposing hands, and the pacing is fast as you try to clear the board before it fills up. It feels like a frantic race against a rising tide of opponents.
