Gameplay is structured in rounds, beginning with the player selecting a location for their fortress and surrounding it with a defensive wall. After an attack phase, a repair period allows for rebuilding damaged sections and placing additional cannons within the fortress walls. Success depends on effectively balancing the construction of cannon enclosures for maximum firepower with the urgent need to repair defenses before the next assault. The game concludes when a player's castle cannot be sufficiently repaired or when a required number of enemy ships have been destroyed.
