About Rhi Roller Hockey '95 (proto)
RHI Roller Hockey '95 is a prototype for the Super Nintendo that never saw a full release. It was developed by GTE Vantage Inc., and it exists as a snapshot of mid-90s sports gaming on the console. You get a sense of what was being made at the time, a straightforward arcade hockey title that just never made it to store shelves.
You control a five player roller hockey team, skating up and down the rink to score goals against your opponent. The main objective is simple: outscore the other team before the clock runs out. The game features body checking to separate opponents from the puck and a one timer passing system for quick shots on goal. The pacing is fast, with players moving quickly, but the controls can feel a bit slippery, making precise maneuvers a challenge. It feels like a rough but functional arcade sports game that shows its unfinished state.
