Puzzle Bobble came out on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994, developed by Taito. It was a time when the SNES was full of bright, colorful games, and this one fit right in. You controlled these little dinosaurs, Bub and Bob, who were trying to clear the screen of bubbles.

You aim a launcher at the top of the screen and fire colored bubbles to match groups of three or more of the same color, making them pop. The main goal is to clear each screen of all the bubbles before a certain line at the bottom is crossed. Two key mechanics are the ability to bank your shots off the walls for tricky angles and the chain reactions you can set off, where popping one group makes others fall. The game starts gently but the speed and complexity ramp up, demanding quick thinking and precision. It feels satisfying to watch a whole section of the playfield disappear with one well-placed shot.
