About Puzzle Bobble - Bust-a-move (europe)
I first played Puzzle Bobble on the Super Nintendo in 1995, a release from Taito Corporation. It was a straightforward puzzle game among many on the system, offering a bright and focused alternative to the platformers and RPGs that dominated the era.
You control a small dragon at the bottom of the screen who shoots colored bubbles upward. Your main objective is to clear each screen of all bubbles by matching three or more of the same color. The core mechanics involve aiming your shots carefully to create clusters that pop, and you can also use the walls for bank shots to reach tricky spots. The game starts gently but the pace quickens as the ceiling of bubbles slowly descends; if it reaches the bottom, it's over. Clearing a difficult screen provides a genuine sense of relief and accomplishment.
