Pro Mahjong Kiwame II is one of those SNES mahjong games that feels way more polished than it has any right to be. You get dropped straight into a clean, no-nonsense table with crisp tile designs—none of that overly flashy nonsense. The CPU opponents actually put up a decent fight, though I swear the AI gets suspiciously lucky sometimes when you're about to win.
Two-player mode is where it really shines though. There's something satisfying about slapping down tiles against a friend, watching their face when you call "Ron" out of nowhere. The controls take a minute to get used to (why is the confirm button different in every menu?), but once it clicks, it's just pure, unfiltered mahjong. If you're into traditional Japanese rules and don't mind the lack of tutorials, this one holds up surprisingly well.
