Prince of Persia 2 on SNES takes everything that made the first game great—the fluid animations, the tense platforming—and cranks it up. You’re still that same acrobatic prince, but now you’ve got new moves, like wall-jumping (which feels way smoother than it has any right to on a 16-bit system).

The levels are bigger, meaner, and packed with way more ways to die—spikes, collapsing floors, those annoying sword guys who just won’t stay down. At one point, you even turn into a freaking shadow version of yourself, which sounds cool until you realize it makes platforming even more nerve-wracking. The art’s gorgeous for an SNES game, too—lots of detailed backgrounds that actually make Persia feel like a real place instead of just a bunch of platforms.

Fair warning, though: this one’s tough. Like, “throw-your-controller” tough in spots. But nailing a tricky jump or finally beating that one boss after ten tries? Pure satisfaction.
