Power Piggs of the Dark Age is one of those weird, forgotten SNES platformers where you play as a bunch of armored pigs—like medieval warriors, but snoutier. At first glance, it looks like a cutesy cartoon, but don’t be fooled—some of those jumps are brutal. You’ve got different pig knights with their own weapons (swords, axes, the usual), and the levels throw everything at you: lava pits, spike traps, and these annoying bat enemies that dive at you mid-jump.
It’s got that classic early ‘90s vibe where the controls are a little stiff, but once you get used to it, there’s something oddly satisfying about smacking skeletons with a pig’s mace. The music’s surprisingly decent too—lots of dramatic horns like you’re charging into battle, just with more oinking. Not the deepest game, but if you’re into obscure platformers, it’s a fun oddity.
