Power Lode Runner on SNES is one of those games that looks simple at first—just dig holes, drop enemies in them, and grab gold—but man, does it get tricky fast. The first few levels ease you in, letting you figure out the rhythm of trapping those little red guys before they swarm you. Then suddenly you're staring at a maze with way too many moving parts, trying to plan three steps ahead while everything falls apart.
It’s got that classic Lode Runner feel but with smoother controls and some extra power-ups to mix things up. I remember getting stuck on this one level where you have to dig a perfect staircase while dodging enemies, and it took me way too many tries to nail the timing. The music’s got that upbeat 16-bit charm too—catchy enough to hum along but not annoying after the twentieth retry.
If you like puzzle games where you actually sweat a little, this one’s a solid pick. Just don’t blame me when you lose track of time muttering “one more try” at 2 AM.
